As some of you
may know, a beta of this was released ages ago.
I've been
toying with the idea of trying to get it fixed up and releasing it.
Was just wondering if there was still any interest?
No

Um, I think
there was already a "Rotate" mod that did weapons, armor, and some
miscellaneous items...based on the Shield Placer mod scripts that
work wonderfully...err, one moment...
Rotation - Allows armor (includes shields),
weapons, and some items to be placed on walls, doors (teleporting,
not swinging), floors, wherever, and stay that way. Drop the item in
front of you, click on it, and follow the instructions. Use them
seperately or all together, your choice.
Shield Placer - Allows shields to be placed on
walls, doors (teleporting, not swinging), floors, wherever, and stay
that way. Drop the shield in front of you, click on it, and follow
the instructions.
EDIT: Err, not to say I wouldn't be
interested mind you. I like choices, and you may well pull it off
better than the last

Well this is a
welcome surprise Cydine!
I've had the beta up and running
ever since its release. If for nothing else, and this mod had a lot
to offer, I loved the ability to by weapon racks to place all of the
various murderous implements I've collected throughout the game.
I'd certainly like to see you continue work on it as your
Book Rotate mod is one of THE essential mods in existance...I
wouldn't play without it.
I do know, and you may know this
as well, that since the beta, there has been work done by Monica on
a shield placer, and I believe there is a mod...likely on
summit...that took that concept further and provided .esps to move
and rotate everything from weapons to misc. items. I haven't gotten
around to trying it in game however, (of late of I've been doing my
interior decorating in the construction set) but it might be worth
doing a search for the threads discussing it. Or you could just look
at what Telephoros posted and that will cover you...heh. (I was a
little too slow on posting apparently.)
At any rate, if you
can do for weapon placement what you did for book placement ingame,
well that's a golden, must-have mod right out of the box! Count me
on the "yes I'm definately interested" column.

Ive been
waiting for Maboroshi's Weapon Rotate mod to get updated for *ages*
it would be like christmas come early to have another of yours and
his rotation mods running ^_^ i am a big fan of weapon rotate,
and i would do anything to get a newer, cleaner version
^_^

I use
'Rotation' which adds placement scripts to everything in game; misc
items, armor, shields, weapons etc. The readme says Dracus Dragani,
Vorwoda_the_Black, and Monica21 are all partly responsible. I
wouldn't want to sound ungrateful to any modder that considerately
offers to work for our pleasure, but unless something is wrong with
Rotation that I've missed, perhaps you could channel that creative
force into something else .

definitely interested! I've been running the beta for a long time,
I'll help out however I can even!
Also, when it does come
out, I'll probably be able to make addons for any weapons mods
that'll support the rotate... I got one on the first beta for
Appollondro's Weapon Store, and I'll prolly be making the addons for
my own use anyway...

Definitely
interested!
Though
I'm more of a bookworm than a weapon freak, the prospect of having
my weapons hanging tidily on the wall sounds exciting to
me.
When you focus on weapon rack placement, your mod will
have some unique features, so you won't be doing exactly the same as
the above mentioned mods. And a tool similar to the BR Patcher that
adds the rotation scripts to user-enchanted weapons would be a great
bonus.
Thus,
a big thumbs up from me!

The other rotation mod is apparently very good but limits stacking
in inventory. Yours would no doubt have different features and
appeal to some or more. And Erstam expressed it exactly:

Unfortunately that's something
that can't be circumvented. As soon as a script is attached to an
item, each instance of this item becomes unique (because the script
state / variables can be different), and it won't stack in the
inventory. It's the same with books when you have Book Rotate
installed. A related case: weapons that are damaged. You won't be
able to "repair" them by simply putting them into your inventory
along with their counterparts that are in good condition.

This is just great idea .
I spent many long hours putting Dracus_Vorvoda script on my armor
and weapons. It would be even better if you can contact Taddeus'
(the autor of the most detailed weapon-armor-object mod balances)
and together produce some new versions of balance-rotate mods. Check
Taddeus' site for his recent projects.
I am sorry too, but
most of this "I would be very much interested" posts I consider as
the pure diplomacy, or lack of knowledge what rotate mod can and can
not do (no ofence) .
I have been using almost all book rotation mods - they are
essential, no doubt. From old weapon rotate mod I use this modular
part giving to marchants furniture for weapon keeping. As previously
stated for now all we need is some kind of universal patcher
introdused for the need of rotation. If there is no way to develop
better working script then this written by mighty Vorvoda_the_Black
,
I would personally pass on this.

I've tried the
old beta of weapon rotate and the rotation mod, and I really prefer
the WR mod for weapons, because it is a hard work to make a weapon
properly fit in a spear-rack or a wall rack with the rotation mod,
whereas weapons position themselves automatically in the racks of
the weapon rotate mod (when you have understood where to click
!). So I’m definitively very interested in a final
release ! I hope you will do it. Thanx

I think the
idea was just that Rotation can do everything Weapon Rotate could.
But wait! If WR could be tuned up and released such that it could
add funtionality to weapon racks, that would be something new and
something I'd be interested in. Standing racks, or even hooks that
could be placed on walls with the Rotation script and would
then snap weapons into place, would be excellent. It would save time
to carefully place a rack once (Rotation is unwieldy) and then be
able to dump weapons down with a click.

OK, here's the last beta that Maboroshi and myself were
working on. I need some peeps to test it and tell me what problems
they encounter. I'm particularly interested in any scripting
problems (Erstam, could use your help on this one).
Let's
get the scripts working 100% first then concentrate on any placement
issues. They can be easily resolved.
When you first start
using the mod, you may find it a bit tricky to get the weapons and
racks to place correctly. Trust me it does work, you just have to
have the knack.
Let me know how you get on.

Oh that was you? I was about
to reply to your mail. Funnily enough, I've been contacted a couple
of times in the past while about ressurecting this mod. You guys got
me thinking.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention, the WRPatcher included in the
zip is an old version and most likely riddled with bugs. Be careful
if using it. It'll give you the basic idea though.
If i get
the mod finished then I'll make a new patcher.

I can't tell
you how happy I am that this is back on your table
Cyndine.
I've used this since Beta 1, over a year ago, and I
love the versatility. I use the weapons rack mode and the rotate
anywhere mode alternately. I love that about it.
I do dream
of a patcher that would allow me to rotate encanted and unique
weapons
And
if you ever talk to Mabaroshi ... Tell him we miss him!!!

Just wondered
if this was still in the works? Loved the rack models, the
implementation of the rotate script only when near the racks (but
with the ability to turn it on anywhere) was great. Also, would you
prefer public bug posts to this thread (so you don't get so much
overlap) or should I just PM you what I see? Thanks for the beta,
though!

OK, I'll
boldly post in cydine's place:
I'm helping on improving and bugfixing the scripts. Cydine
has been very busy with RL work lately and hadn't much time to work
on this mod. Nevertheless, there's been some progress:
- The Wall Racks can be moved smoothly after they have been
dropped into the game world. This makes it much easier to place
them neatly against a wall (this had been next to impossible in
Telvanni interiors, for example)
- You can now change the Weapon Rotate mode by equipping a
special ring.
- If the weapon's and the rack's rotation modes don't match, you
receive a message.
- Checked (and in some cases corrected) the placement parameters
for specific weapons. About 30% done.
I'm currently
waiting for feedback from cydine.
IMO it won't hurt to post
bugs publicly. As a nice side effect, it would attract more
attention (and more potential beta-testers).

The reason I
like this mod so much (and am looking forward to future releases) is
the ease of use. There are rotation mods already out there, but
messing with each objects x,y,z rotation and translation often takes
a bit of time. Plus you have to click through the message box if you
want to pick up the wweapon after dropping, etc. With this mod, you
just buy the weapon rack, drop it wherever you like, and then click
your weapon onto the rack and it snaps into place (with several
positions possible). Anyhoo, enough of my plug for the mod
As
for fixes, I only have a few: --the _MD06_HorzWR script has an
issue: the line player -> additem "_MD_06_FloorWRInv_Misc", 1
should be player -> additem "_MD06_HorzWRInv_Misc", 1 (or else
when you pick up that expensive 800 gold rack you get a cheaper [and
less cool] one) --less a bug than a preference, you might
consider renaming some of the racks from "Weapon rack" to perhaps
"Dagger rack" or "Wall rack" for player ease. --another more
preference thing, a bit hard to get most floor racks snug against
walls. I like the RF method, where you click your inv. arrow where
the wall meets the floor and it alligns correctly. You might change
this, but I'm not sure if it would make it harder to place racks
that are going in the middle of the floor (plus its not all that
hard as is) --The WR patch program still seems to have a few
bugs: when looking at a lot of mods to see if they should be
patched, I got one crash. Looking at fewer mods it worked. You might
add a "yes to all" feature so that you don't have to clickthe "yes,
patch the mod" 40 times. Also, after patching several mods caused
crashes using TESTool (needed to create the leveled lists/objects so
those patched weapons show up in game). The two I noticed crashes
with were faarp's weapon compalation and marksman mod. Since both
add large numbers of weapons I'm not sure if there was a specific
item that caused issues or if it was the sheer number of scripted
items that were being added (not sure if you could fix this
one)
But for the most part, everything was cheery. Weapons
snapped to the racks accurately, well alligned, rack models were
excellent. I'm glad to hear that the wall racks are now easier to
put on -- that was one of my other few gripes.
Glad to hear
that work is still being done! If I find anything else, I'll post.

able to stand my spear in one of the spear holders, place em on
shelves,etc.

This is the way they
implemented it now. You just have to buy special holders (one looks
like the weapon holders, another looks like shelves) Check it out.

The _MD06_HorzWR script has been fixed now (at least on my
comp).
2) As for the more descriptive rack names, I agree
with you. But I think that's up to cydine to decide.
3) On
changing the floor racks' drop point: This may be possible, but it
would either require some scripting, or changing the rack model's
origin. Don't know whether it will be worth it, though. Remember,
there are some tilesets (like the Telvanni interiors I mentioned)
where there's no well-defined room edge. Btw, the racks already snap
to the correct angle (in steps of 45 degrees) and to a 10-units
world grid which makes it easier to align them with each
other.

Racks"? That wouldn't point at its functionality...

Rack Rotate"? No, it's not the racks that rotate...
I
vote for leaving it "Weapon Rotate". It's already known by this
name, and would as well express its kinship with the Book Rotate
mod.
